Kiaranuk Registered Alaskan Malamutes (Home of Champions), is a small kennel consisting of our 3 Alaskan Malamutes. Kiaranuk Kennels is located roughly 30km East of Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada along the Trans Canada Hwy. (11-17), with a view of beautiful Lake Superior.
We are always active with our dogs whether it be showing, recreational sledding and carting, camping, hiking/backpacking, or participating in local educational breed events. Kiaranuk Registered Kennels are members of the Alaskan Malamute Club of Canada (AMCC), Canadian Kennel Club (CKC), Alaskan Malamute HELP League, and Northwestern Ontario Working Dog Association (NOWDA).
Being Alaskan Malamute breeders we are big believers in quality vs. quantity and only plan litters of Kiaranuk Registered Alaskan Malamute puppies occasionally when we plan on expanding our breeding program.
We strive for Health, Excellent Temperments, Type. We breed according to the official Alaskan Malamute breed standard in hopes to always better this beautiful, magnificent breed. Our dogs are cleared for genetic health issues known to the breed, including Eye exams through the Canine Eye Registration Foundation (CERF), Hip/Elbow Dysplasia done through (OVC). Although hip dysplasia is classed as genetic, we strongly recommend not to allow dogs under 2 years of age to jump of of high objects or pull objects as these situations puts a tremendous amount of stress on the undeveloped joints.
Other concerns are Thyroid, and although there hasn't been a known case of Chondrodysplasia (Chd) in many years, it still remains a concern. Kiaranuk Registered Kennels suggests strongly that you look up Alaskan Malamute Health to learn more, particularly on how these health issues are aquired. As responsible Alaskan Malamute breeders, we guarantee our Alaskan Malamute puppies against genetic health issues known to the breed for a period of 2 years providing there is proof from a DVM of the said health issue being genetic. Replacement only of the said animal will be given. All pups will be microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and will have a clearance of good health provided by a licensed DVM.
All pups will also come with a minimum of a 3 generation pedigree. If you have an interest in this wonderful breed, we suggest visiting a library, education websites, and breed literature published by the Alaskan Malamute Club of Canada or the Alaskan Malamute Club of America. These will help you better understand the pro's and con's of owning an Alaskan Malamute before making that final decision, as this breed is not for everyone! If you have questions we will try our best to help you, so please...
